Mercury Removal Talk, Gene Decker, Part 3

The “Mercury Removal Talk” Part 3, begins with Gene Decker, spokesperson for Wyodak Plant of Black Hills Corporation, near Gillette, Wyoming, continuing in the power point with slides of the Mercury CEMS equipment and descriptions of function.

There is a pause in the Power Point for the audience to ask Gene Decker questions. There was disclosure about other plants east and west of the Mississippi River, and how the tests have to be customized to the kind of coal being burned, and for what the residue of PAC (powder activated carbon) will be used for, for instance: in-home drinking water filters, calgon water softener, etc. The cost has been driven up enough for PAC, that the electric power plants pays an enormous amount of money for PAC.

The last couple minutes of this Part 3 video segment addresses the purity of the ground water around the Wyodak Power plant, which is clean, said Decker in response to a pointed audience question. Decker also explained why the ground water is OK in our region. Decker also qualified that other older plants around the USA have to work really hard to make sure the ground water around them is really OK.
